Ya’ll know it’s Operation Organize at my house right now. I have GOT to get out from under all the post holiday clutter and get this place in order. Yes, it’s still a mess! Am I the only one with a stack of mail on the kitchen table… on the coffee table… in the crisper of the fridge?? Ha ha. Just Kidding. But seriously, how do all these stacks of mail accumulate?? I have got to get organized!!
As I started sorting through the stacks, I discovered notes of appointments that I need to remember. Oh yeah… I have a dentist appointment coming up! Now, let’s be real, I will never find those notes amidst all the mail. So I took the notes and jotted them down in my planner. And then hit up the Dollar Tree Value Seekers Club for some inspiration on a way to organize all of my notes! I spotted their magnetic clothespin organizers and was immediately brainstorming ways I could ‘junkie’ them up a bit!
Mission accomplished: Old Vintage Silverware
I know you may not have vintage silverware on hand, but if you like the look, you could grab some silverware at Dollar Tree when you pick up your clothespins (a pack of 36 for a buck!) You can’t beat that!! I scored this silverware from my favorite junk spot. Remember the Christmas Tree I made out of them? So, lucky for me, my spoons and forks were already cut when I found them!
Now for the clothespins…
When you snag your clothespins at Dollar Tree they will be a very light wood color. But I wanted mine to have a vintage look. So I dyed them like I’ve done in the past. And believe it or not… some that I dyed a few months back have started rusting. Yes, REAL rust on the metal!!! AWESOME!!
Then, I snagged a few adhesive magnets and we’re ready to get started!
These were so easy to make. I hot glued the silverware handles to the front of the clothespin.
And the magnet to the back!
And that was it!! Our fridge is stainless steel, so I opted for a less conventional magnet board. I have seen lots of people use old cookie sheets… and while I have a few of those on hand, I thought my vintage washboard fit the bill to a ‘T’.
Yes… I really did have a dentist appt. on 1/14! No cavities! Go me!! I guess I can take the reminder down!
These little magnets were so easy to make, I whipped up a whole collection! And believe it or not, I have lots more junkie silverware left!
