Loopy Burlap Christmas Tree with Glitter {Video Tutorial} #12DaysofTrees

This tree was soooo much fun to make… I started by prepping my burlap. That meant cutting my burlap into strip and adding my loops, as well!

Then I attached my loopy burlap to my tree.

And the last step was to add the sparkle!!

If you want a little more detail on exactly how I made this tree… we videoed the whole process! It took about 20 minutes to make this tree, but thanks to the magic of video editing and the lovely hubs who worked his magic… we got it down to 4½ minutes!! C’mon, you’ve got 4½ minutes… I promise it’ll get you in the holiday spirit!!

As promised… the glitter Mod Podge dried clear! And all that magnificent sparkle came through. Here are some after pictures to who you how she turned out!

  1. Totally cute Candace- I love the way you did the burlap, such a good trick to speed things up! Must pin to remember:) Have a fabulous week!!

    • Oh, thank you, Krista!! I had so much fun making this one!! I think it tops my list of favorite trees!! And that video.. ha ha!! We had no choice… it was like 15 minutes long… and B-to-the-ORING!!! Ha ha!!! I thought it made it fun and effective!! Glad you like it!! 🙂

  2. My volume is off but I could still tell what you were doing. Since my hearing is already off kilter I tend to read lips somewhat.
Anyway, great tutorial, glad you shared this, helps to see how easy it is. Think I’ll me making this one also. Just have to get some cones (or make them) and some glitter ModPodge. I’ll be looking at HL to see if I can find the ruffly burlap ribbon with the rhinestones. Want to make at least 2 of your great trees. Happy Thanksgiving

    • Yay, JaneEllen!! I’m so glad you were able to follow the video tutorial even with the volume turned down! This one tops my list of favorite trees as well!! This one and the diamondy burlap one!! Looks like you are a girl after my own heart! We gotta stick together on our love for burlap!!! 🙂

  3. Love these! Super cute. And I’m totally making me some wooden snowmen. Love the finish on those little guys!

    Aloha,
    Charlie

    • Oh, thank you Charlie!!! Are you in Hawaii??? If so, the wood block snowmen would be quite appropriate, ha ha!! I love how the finish turned out as well!! Did you see the wood pallet tree we made… we did the same finish on that one!! I love that it matches these little snowmen!! Thanks for stopping by!! If you make the snowmen, I’d love to see them!! Maybe you could email me a picture or share it on Facebook!! I love seeing the creative spin you all add to your projects!! Have fun and Happy Holidays!!

  4. So glad I clicked on this link in the Bloggertunities group. I just love your burlap Christmas tree! I am so gonna do this!

  5. These are super cute!! I was wondering, though, how much burlap is needed for the tree made in the video? i’m thinking 1 yard would do the trick but i’m horrible with guesstimating measurements. I’d really appreciate some info on that 🙂 Thanks!

    • Hi Sarah!! So glad you like the tree!! A yard of burlap would be more than enough! In fact, you could probably get away with a half yard! It really doesn’t take all that much. In fact, I used scraps from another project I did! I hope that helps… I’d love to see your tree when you finish it!! Maybe you could share it on Facebook!! I LOVE seeing ya’lls creations!! Happy Holidays!!

  6. Shawna Frymire says:

I made a red Burlap tree this evening a smaller one to start will be making 2 more sizes tomorrow one with more bling on it and then a regular burlap tree with glitter like yours. I love them thank you so much for the DIY video.

    • Oh! Oh! Pictures please, Miss Shawna!! Did you dye your burlap red or buy it that way? I think I’ve seen red burlap at the craft store… that’d be so cute!! I would love to see them. Maybe you can send me a picture on Facebook?! And I’m glad you find the videos helpful!! There’s a lot more videos where that came from!! We’ll be really stepping it up in 2014!! I sure hope you’ll be back!!

  7. Candace — I just had an AHA I had to share with you. Could you “do” the glitter Mod Podge down the center of the burlap strip before you do the snips? Just let it dry first. Wouldn’t want to use your best scissors, but with burlap you probably aren’t anyway.

I’ve so enjoyed the series and getting to know you via the Silhouette Challenge group. Going over to place an order using your code! (I’m justifying adding new orders as a means of spreading affiliate love)

    • Ah, good idea Sharon! I don’t see why you couldn’t do it that way! I kinda like dabbing each little loop, I think it gives me more control. But in an effort to save time… I say go for it!! And thank you so much for your Silhouette purchase! It means a lot!! I am so thankful for the new friends I have made through the Silhouette group… you included!! Ya’ll are amazingly talented ladies, indeed!!
