So…

A big thank you to those of you who have emailed and extended your concern for my whereabouts. It means a lot to be missed! And I’ve missed you all too!! I have seriously had the time of my life over the last couple months preparing for a new adventure that I have been itchin’ to share with you all. If you follow me on Facebook, you already know… I have a NEW SHOP!!!

New Junk Shop {Rusted Roots}

Her name?!Β Rusted Roots… located at Suzanna’s Antiques in Raleigh, NC!!

Best 'lil Junk Shop

Rusted Roots on Facebook

The journey began in February when I learned I would be opening the space! The hubs and I immediately hit the streets in search of the coolest rustiest junk around! I’d say we accomplished our goal! We snagged junk from Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and of course, here at home!! The hunting process is soo much fun!! It brings me so much joy!!

Florida Flea Market

I journaled the entire time and took ton ‘o pictures so I can share with you all of the hot spots that I found!! The one thing I learned right off the bat… I. NEED. A. TRUCK! My poor little car is so tired of having junk strapped to her top!

Hauling Old Junk

On many occasions, I would just stack my stash beside the car and play a quick game of tetris in my head to figure out how to get my haul across the state lines!

My Junkie Haul

Coming back from Florida was a trip!! We actually packed our clothes in trash bags, shoved those trash bags into a rusty kitchen cabinet that I found and strapped that bad boy to the top of my ‘lil red car! You should have seen us!! But I needed more room in the car for junk I may find on the ride back!! You get it? Right? Can I say thre’s nothing like strapping furniture (filled furniture, mind you) to the top of your car at 4am!!! I β™₯ the hubs!!

Hauling Junk from Florida

One of my favorite finds came right off an old building here in NC! I spotted this old office furniture sign and thought it was so cool!! It happened to be attached to an old house that was being used as an antique shop, so after rounding up a stash from inside, I told the owner how much I loved the sign on the side of the building. He said, “Oh, that old thing. I put that up there to keep the squirrels out! I’ll take it down if you want it!” Really? I couldn’t Β believe it! And with that the sign was mine!!

Snag an Old Sign Right Off Building

It’s signs like that, that are hard for me to part with. But when move-in day came on April 1st, I loaded her up and spent three very loooong days making the space exactly how I had envisioned! Rusty. Funky. Junky. and Fun!!

Move-in Day at Rusted Roots

Here’s a couple peeks at how the shop looked on opening day! It looks quite different today, as several big pieces sold within the first few days!

Rusted Roots Junk Shop

  11. You are living the dream girl!! And a supportive, helpful hubby is the cherry on top!

  12. Karen Lewis says:

I, too, have been following you on FB. I laugh to myself when I am looking through your pictures because some of the things are what I used to own or grew up with and now they are considered old, Ha Ha. Well I guess I have to admit then that I am old too. If you ever make a trip to NE Ohio, be sure to let me know you are heading this way. We have a ton of places around here that are large flea markets and lots of auctions. (The auctions are the most fun.)

  13. Congrats on the new store!!! I hope many good things come your way. πŸ™‚
