Super Duper HUGE Annoucement on my One Year Blogiversary!!!

Holy Moly is this HUGE?!  My family knows… and my closest friends know… so now it’s time to share with you lovely readers!! And what better day to share the exciting news than today, my one year blogiversary! That’s right, Vintage News Junkie turns one year old today!!

I know I’ve been a bit absent in these parts lately, but for good reason! Sometimes you just feel like there is something missing in your life. Something that you know will be a HUGE responsibility, something that will give you purpose, and allow you to truly be the person you feel like you were born to be. So the hubs and I talked about it. And talked about it more. And decided to venture forth on this new chapter in our lives.

For months, we have been getting to know this thing of beauty, working hard to be sure it is taken care of to the best of our ability. As it began to grow, we began to love it more! We were so anxious to finally get to see this bundle of beauty! And last week it happened!! We finally met the fruits of our labors…

and are so happy to introduce you to… Rusted Roots!

Beauty Stems from Rusted Roots

Oh, did you think we had a baby?! Ha ha! Nope! But I tell ya, I feel like I just gave birth. Okay, minus all the pain. But the journey was much the same! Back in December of last year, I realized that Vintage News Junkie was more successful than I could have ever imagined after only six months. So, I sat down and re-evaluated. If Vintage News Junkie is this successful, maybe it’s time I take this blog thing more seriously. Perhaps, I could make a living doing what I love!!

So, in January, I took the leap. I took a step back from Vintage News Junkie to begin my business plan for Rusted Roots. For the last six months, I have been building the site that launched this past week! And I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! I decided this go-round to invest in the site. I hired a designer, developer, and even invested in some travel to bring this site together!

The site has three major goals:

1) To share how ‘Beauty Stems from Rusted Roots’ both in our personal lives and in the rusty relics that we rescue. Not all beginnings are beautiful, but it’s what we create with what we have that makes all the difference. So, I share my heart and my story (my roots, if you will) in hopes to bring hope to you!

2) To share with you what I do with all the old stuff I rescue! I will give you step-by-step tutorials on how to upcycle the junkiest of junk and repurpose things you may otherwise toss. My hope is to inspire you to look at old pieces in a new way, allowing you to salvage some of your own Rusted Roots!!

3) To take you along on the journey of finding the best junk!! I call this section of the blog Rusted Routes!! Fun play on words, right?? I’ll be featuring the best junk shops, vintage fairs, markets and more each Friday! And these aren’t shops I pulled from some massive list. These are junk spots that the hubs and I have personally visited!! From Florida to Pennsylvania… and even over in California!! I told ya… we’ve been working hard!! We have pictures and videos… it’s just a super fun junky time!!

So, did we have a baby? No. But does this little Rusted Roots blog keep us up at night? Are we constantly working to try to make it better? Do we feed it? And change its diaper? Okay, maybe we’re past the diaper stage, but this new venture IS our baby! And we sure hope that you will come join us for the journey!

If you enjoy junk adventures, be sure to follow Rusted Roots on Facebook, Twitter, and especially Instagram. I’m kinda addicted to Instagram lately! And that’s where you can see where we are in real time!! Who knows we may just be in your neck of the woods!!

Rusted Roots will be hittin’ the dirt roads this summer for some awesome shows! So, you can shop Rusted Roots as well!! Each time we sign up for a show, we will add it here! So be sure to check back often or you can sign up for email alerts to stay in touch too!!

We couldn’t be more excited about this new venture!! And while Vintage News Junkie will always be here… I won’t be posting here anymore. Instead, hop over and join the journey where Beauty Stems from Rusted Roots!!

  1. You had me there Candace. When I met you at Haven, I think I told you, ” You are the girl from Vintage New Junkie, I get your FB updates”. Then I saw all the Instagram tags and the Business card for Rusted Roots and was confused. I was like Oh my God, the Vintage news junkie girl looks like her twin! I was about to verify one more time that these 2 girls were different before I blurt out an apology on your FB page saying, “Oh my Gosh, so sorry, the whole time at I Haven I was thinking and talking to you as if you were the Vintage news junkie girl”!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats! So excited for you!

  2. Congratulations! That’s so amazing! I’ll be following along!

WOW Candace I am so happy for you and wish you astounding success on your new site and store, Rusted Roots, for which I am a new follower. Have been waiting since you mentioned new site few weeks ago pretty impatiently. Have been missing your posts from Vintage News Junkie also. Guess I’d better get with more of the social media huh? Rarely go on others but that will change as of today. CONGRATULATIONS both you and your hubs. That is a big step to take but you’re more than good for it gal. I can understand how it would seem like having a baby. Sure makes me wish even more I lived closer to you so I could be a witness to your success. Sure hope someday you get around to our neck of the woods, would be so pleased to meet you in person. Many happy summer days to you and your hubs.
